ATEC
Gregory Mathes
Gregory is the operations and fund development manager. He has over 23 years of experience managing human service programs. He has a B.S. degree and is certified in AT and nonprofit management.
Faridé González
Faridé is the ATEC Services Assistant who has worked at ATEC since 1998. Her primary responsibilities include the coordination of services for clients from the Department of Rehabilitation, Worker’s Compensation, and non-profit funding agencies. She is also responsible for the billing of ATEC services and various other administerial duties. Prior to working at ATEC, Faridé worked in accounting for four years.
Joseph M. Swingle
Joe is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist who recently joined ATEC after working as a Speech Therapist in local school districts in the Southern California region. With ATEC he provides assessments and trainings for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania and his Master of Science degree from California State University, Northridge. He studied in San José, Costa Rica, Central America, and is bilingual in English and Spanish. He holds his Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a member of the California Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (CSHA), the International Society of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC), the US Society of Augmentative and Alternative Communication, (USAAC), and the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA).
Stanley Tom
Stanley Tom is a Senior Technology Specialist at the Assistive Technology
Exchange Center (ATEC) in Santa Ana, California. He has a B.A. and M.A.
in geography from UCLA and the University of Arizona respectively and holds
a certificate in assistive technology applications through California State
University, Northridge. Previously, Stan was a manager of information systems
and information technology consultant. He has taught geography and information
technology courses at Long Beach City College and in corporations.
Kathleen (Kathy) Rausch
Kathy is a Speech-Language Pathologist. She received her B.S. in Speech and Hearing Science with distinction from the University of Arizona. Kathy also received her M.S. in Speech and Hearing from the University of Arizona. Kathy has her Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association ( ASHA). She is a Licensed Speech Pathologist and has a Life Teaching Credential. She previously worked in the public school setting for 19 years with children having a variety of communicative disorders and language related reading disabilities. Kathy was honored by her district when chosen as Teacher of the Year by her school site. She was recognized by CSHA District 8 and given a Distinguished Service Award. Kathy’s responsibilities at ATEC are to provide consultation, assessment and training with adults and children who require Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Kathy is a member of ASHA and the California Speech and Hearing Association (CSHA).
Kevin Daugherty
Kevin Daugherty is a Rehabilitation Engineer, and is currently employed
at the Assistive Technology Exchange Center (ATEC) in Santa Ana, CA. He
has worked at ATEC since June 1998, and has been working in the rehabilitation
field since 1996. Prior to working at ATEC, Kevin worked with a private
assistive technology company in Ohio. He works with a wide range of clients
in the areas of computer access, home and worksite evaluations, and technology
for students with learning disabilities. Kevin has a bachelor's degree in
Biomedical Engineering and a master's degree in Rehabilitation Engineering,
both from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He is a certified Assistive
Technology Practitioner (ATP) through the Rehabilitation Engineering and
Assistive Technology Association of North America (RESNA).
Jasmine Bootan Sarmiento
Jasmine is an occupational therapist. She has worked at ATEC since 2004.
Prior to working at ATEC, she worked for a private company providing occupational
therapy services to Adult Day Health Care Centers. She earned her bachelor
of science degree in occupational therapy from California State University
Dominguez Hills. She is certified under the National Board for Certification
in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and the California Board of Occupational
Therapy (CBOT). In addition, she earned an Assistive Technology Specialist
Certificate (CSU, Dominguez Hills).
Todd Freitas
Todd is the Assistant Technology Specialist for ATEC. Todd has been employed with ATEC since 2000 and his main role is to provide support for ATEC staff and perform technical support of the vast Assistive Technology equipment at the center. Todd has certifications in Assistive Technology Applications through California State University, Northridge, Comptia's A+ certification as well as MCP, MCSE certification.
Lauren Wetzler
Lauren is the ATEC Services Coordinator where her responsibilities include the coordination of services for the school districts, insurances, and regional centers as well as assisting with the equipment loan program. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Services from California State University, Fullerton. Prior to working at ATEC, Lauren was a behavior therapist/program specialist who worked with children with Autism. She also has prior experience in administration and working with people with disabilities.
Kim Vuong
Kim Vuong is an Assistive Technology Assistant /Intern. Kim has been at ATEC for 3 years now. She has five-year work experience working with Assistive technology and people with disabilities. She helps with some of AAC programming and other clerical duties.
